We want to help our youth connect, serve, have fun, and learn. Here are some tips to make learning more effective.
We are all learning
Some days it feels like we are the only one who doesn't know something - whether it's an important historical event, a famous person, or a talent, skillset, or ability. It can be helpful to remember that even Jesus Christ had to learn and grow over time. "And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man." (Luke 2:52) So don't expect to know or understand everything right now.
Create a plan
Before you dive right into your studies, create a plan to help guide your effort and track your progress. Sometimes just seeing where you are on the journey gives you confidence to keep going.
Remember to balance
While it's tempting to focus on studying to the exclusion of other activities in order to reach educational goals, it is important to balance intellectual growth with physical exercise, social experiences, and spiritual development. King Benjamin taught his people, "And see that all these things are done in wisdom and order;" (Mosiah 4:27).
Don't hesitate to ask questions
Parents, teachers, friends, and youth leaders are there to help answer your questions. If you feel overwhelmed, sometimes asking a few questions can save you a lot of time and frustration. Connecting with classmates outside of the school environment can be a great way to find out what's working for others and may give you ideas to simplify your studies.
